Someone asks you for a favour. Before you have even thought about it, you hear yourself answer: « of course, no problem! » On the way home, another voice grumbles: « why did you say yes again? » Meet the Pleaser.

The Pleaser reads the desires of others before they are spoken. It smooths, softens, anticipates. It remembers birthdays, senses tensions, finds the words that soothe. Thanks to it, you are appreciated, welcome, rarely in conflict. It is one of the most widespread primary voices — and one of the most costly.
The price of yes
Every automatic yes buries a real answer. Over the years, others no longer know who you are — and neither do you, entirely. Behind the Pleaser hides what it protects: the fear of rejection, of conflict, of no longer being loved. And a disowned voice waits in the shadows: the one that knows how to say no, that knows what you want. When it finally emerges, it sometimes explodes — anger, abrupt departure — because it has waited too long.
And in Voice Dialogue?
In a session, the Pleaser can finally say what it does for you — and how tired it sometimes is. Then the facilitator may invite the opposite voice: the one that knows what you want. Hearing both, from two different places, changes everything: saying no stops being a betrayal and becomes a possible answer. Not against others — with yourself.
